Job Opening: Head Chef for Indian Cuisine Restaurant in Hyderabad
As the Head Chef, you will not only lead the kitchen but also play a crucial role in shaping a collaborative and dynamic culinary team. You will be responsible for balancing professionalism with warmth and enthusiasm while ensuring operational excellence aligns with the organization's vision.
Your Team & Collaboration
- You will work closely with the kitchen team (Sous Chef, CDP, Commis, Helpers).
- Collaborate with the service team (Restaurant Manager) to ensure seamless kitchen- restaurant operations.
- Coordinate with management and leadership to uphold quality, innovation, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead menu execution, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand identity. Ensure consistency in plating, presentation, and overall dining experience. Develop and test new dishes, incorporating guest feedback and market trends.
2. Implement and monitor food programs, ensuring adherence to SOPs. Oversee daily kitchen operations to maintain high standards in food quality and consistency, food preparation techniques, plating and presentation, and overall guest experience. Conduct daily food tastings to ensure quality and consistency. Estimate daily production needs and communicate with the kitchen team. Supervise and coordinate shifts, ensuring smooth operations.
3. Ensure that cost control and wastage management systems are effectively implemented in the kitchen. The Head Chef will be answerable for any deviations from budgeted food costs and wastage limits. Conduct regular audits and respond to internal reports effectively.
4. Build a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration within the team. Serve as a role model and mentor for junior kitchen staff. Clearly communicate performance expectations and evaluate team members. Recognize and reward outstanding performance. Identify employee development needs and provide relevant training. Maintain open, collaborative relationships among employees.
5. Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards are met and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
6. Stay informed about industry trends, ingredients, and culinary techniques. Develop relationships with local and regional culinary institutions. Support and mentor team members in their professional growth.
7. Track kitchen performance metrics and report deviations. Maintain detailed records of kitchen deliverables and operational efficiency.
Skills & Qualifications
Culinary Expertise: Strong understanding of cooking techniques, flavors, and presentation.
Experience/ qualification: 3-5 years in a fast-paced kitchen or dynamic restaurant, ideally
from a culinary background.
Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead, train, and inspire a diverse team.
Attention to Detail: Precision in food preparation and adherence to quality standards.
Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen setting.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage inventory, schedules, and operational tasks efficiently.
